Invited talk at the Institute of Media Informatics, Ulm University
Steffen Oeltze-Jafra has been invited by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Timo Ropinski to visit the Visual Computing Group his is heading at the Institute of Media informatics at Ulm University on December 18-19.
During the visit Steffen Oeltze-Jafra will present the experiences our group could gather so far with processing of clinical routine data, both imaging- and non-imaging-related, to create a database that is machine-readable and that can be used for disease screening, early diagnosis and therapy purposes using Machine Learning techniques.
Prerequisite to set up such a database includes both, a lifting of the data acquired in the past and the ongoing digitization of new data. It requires the establishment of a processing pipeline between data acquisition and evaluation based on components to be developed for harmonization of data, analysis and improvement of data quality, automated extraction of quantitative data characteristics as well as for ensuring patient data protection. The current state of the pipeline and how machine learning techniques support the pipeline steps will be exemplified by means of our (image) biomarker discovery in dementia research project (Cerebral small vessel disease, CSVD). During the visit avenues for collaboration will be explored.
