Referral to the special outpatient clinic for multiple sclerosis

In addition to differentiating between the various forms of multiple sclerosis, the special outpatient clinic for multiple sclerosis also performs differential diagnostics for different diseases with similar complaints and symptoms. For this purpose, we carry out lumbar punctures (with cerebrospinal fluid diagnostics) and electrophysiological examinations and examine the MRI images you bring. Once the diagnosis has been confirmed, we suggest a therapy (oral, subcutaneous, or intravenous) adapted to your patient's individual situation, including possible therapy changes in the further course of the disease in accordance with the current guidelines. This also includes advice for patients who wish to have children, their co-treatment during pregnancy, the treatment of difficult-to-adjust spasticity, e.g., in the form of Baclofen pump implantation (by colleagues in Stereotactic Neurosurgery), and the implementation of infusion therapies that may be difficult to organize in your practice.

When presenting your patient, we ask you to bring the following documents with you::

  1. previous MRI scans,
  2. previous medical reports and
  3. a current medication plan.

We will return all the documents you have brought with you to your patient at the end of the examination.
