UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY

Referral to the special neurovascular outpatient clinic

In the special neurovascular outpatient clinic with an adjoining neurovascular ultrasound laboratory, we examine patients with arteriosclerotic and non-arteriosclerotic stenoses and diseases of the extracranial and intracranial arteries supplying the brain. Based on the neurovascular findings, the patient's medical history, and your preliminary findings, we will make a treatment proposal for you and your patient. If this involves a vascular or endovascular procedure, we will contact our vascular surgery or neuroradiology colleagues if you and your patient agree and organize further treatment with them.

If your patient has been diagnosed with an aneurysm of a cerebral artery (within the skull bone) and you are wondering whether an operation or catheter treatment is necessary, please get in touch with the Department of Neurosurgery or the Department of Neuroradiology at our University Hospital directly.

In the case of complex neurovascular constellations in particular, which may require an interdisciplinary discussion with our vascular surgery and/or neuroradiology colleagues, and in the case of a request for a second opinion, in which you expect our opinion on an existing assessment, we ask you to provide us with

  1. CT/CTA or MRI/MRA preliminary images on a CD,
  2. previous medical reports,
  3. a current medication plan and
  4. current/last laboratory results (if available).

At the end of the examination, we will return all the documents you brought with you to your patient.
